World politics at the end of the 20th century involves, alongside states, man non-state actors who interact with each other, wit states, and with international organizations. This article considers how these interactions are structured in networds, wich are increasingly visible in international politics. Some involve economic actors and firms. Some are networks of scientists and experts whose professional ties and ideas underpin their efforts to influence policy. Other are networks of activists, distinguishable largel by the centrality of principled ideas or values in motivating their formation named transnational advocacy networks.
A política mundial no final do século 20 envolve, ao lado dos Estados, atores humanos não estatais que interagem entre si, com Estados e com organizações internacionais. Este artigo considera como essas interações se estruturam em redes, cada vez mais visíveis na política internacional. Alguns envolvem empresas e atores econômicos. Alguns são redes de cientistas e especialistas cujos laços profissionais e ideias sustentam seus esforços para influenciar políticas. Outras são redes de ativistas, distinguíveis em grande parte pela centralidade de ideias ou valores de princípios na motivação de sua formação, denominada rede de defesa transnacional.
